Butyl Carbitol (diethylene glycol monobutyl ether) is a slow-evaporating, hydrophilic glycol ether. Its strong solvency and water solubility make it a highly effective coalescing agent for water-based paints and latex adhesives, a coupling agent and grease-cutter in industrial cleaners, and a solvent carrier for printing inks.
